The Waterfalls
On the road from Montezuma to Cabuya, the Cabuya Bridge and sign shows where Rio Lajas begins. And from this point starts the uphill journey to this striking waterfall. Few visitors make this trip because it is not very easy but is a rewarding and unique experience. The river hike is about two hours each way, so be sure to bring plenty of water.
Finally, you will come to a turnoff on the river. Take the right direction for about 20 minutes and you will reach the first waterfall. The natural pool is beautiful and deep enough to swim in.
If you like to continue discovering these waterfalls, you can climb the waterfall and walk for about 15 minutes so you will reach the 100-foot waterfall. This waterfall is more of a giant slide than a vertical drop, but it is truly amazing. Here you will find a couple of different pools that you can swim in. Be sure not to make this trip when the rainy season as some water heads can come down the river.
